Monday Morning Kick-Ass Resume Thread
Grandma used to say, "Always have a current resume and a current passport." Later she added "And $200 cash." :)

Let's hear some ideas for great words and phrases for your resume! I'll start with one from Mrs. Robb's last one:

"Success in shaping dynamic, progressive, collaborative and creative environments."

2. Go to John Kerry's website and just cut and paste.
Nobody checks resumes anyway. Just make sure you memorize whatever you borrow in case it comes up in the interview.

4. Yup. And they're proud of it, too...
I did a piece for UNC's business school a few years back. Apparently, what the Kenan-Flagler Business School is most proud of is that their graduates can go to interviews and say with a straight face, "I love to work in groups!"

Which is great if I want to hire ten MBAs to do what one used to be able to do, but not so hot if all I want is one of them.

Yes, collaboration is a wonderful thing, and they should teach it. But being able to function independently when the need arises is also a wonderful thing. I don't think these new "I love to work in groups" MBAs can do that.

5. Sure, working individually is fine
And important, especially in a leadership role.

But if your company has a culture where one is valued over the other, you're looking at a choice: indecisiveness, or "my way or the highway". It's the balance that actually leads to productivity, IMO.

7. Not Specifically Resume Related, But....
When you go for a job interview, I think a good thing to ask is if they ever press charges.
