Today's College Football Thread
There are a lot of games this weekend that looked to be big matchups before the season started, but where one or both teams has underperformed, like Arkansas at Tennessee, Michigan at Wisconsin, and USC at California. And there are other games that would have normally been big games in years past, but aren’t that appealing this year, like Kansas State at Nebraska or Florida State at Virginia Tech.

There’s only one game that pits two teams currently in the top 25 of the BCS, and that is Auburn at Georgia. But there are some other interesting games as well. Two teams in the top 5 have games that could pose challenges, though I imagine both Ohio State (against Illinois) and Kansas (at Oklahoma State) will survive. Arizona State at UCLA could be interesting, because one never knows which UCLA team will show up in any given week. The Oklahoma Sooners are hosting Baylor, a game which probably won’t be very interesting for those who aren’t OU fans, as I am.

So what games are you looking forward to today?

24. Gotta put an asterisk in front of that
Florida Int'l may be "from the other side of the ocean", not to mention being winless (that makes two out of three Miami teams winless!) but they play at the Orange Bowl as well (sort of like the Jets to the U's Giants):

So, apparently, ESPN is kind of fucked up seeing as they reported the Buffs kicked a 55-yard field goal to tie the game... But now they're saying the game is final with a score of 31-28.

Damn. It. All. To. Hell.

48. Yeah, there was...
Apparently there was a 5-yard delay of game penalty called with one second, and the Buffs supposedly didn't get the second snap off in time for the field goal that was good, so it was ruled the end of the game. Some of the posts I've seen are sayi ng that the Buffs did get the ball off in time, but that the refs blew the call.

Figures. :nuke:

73. they finished strong
I thought FSU was coming back, but I had my eye on another game--by the time I flipped back, Va Tech was up by two touchdowns or so ...

Congrats :toast:

71. what happened there?
I was surprised to see them lose so big at home

They still control their own destiny for the conference title, though, if they can pull off the win at West Virginia in a couple weeks.

74. The game was in Cinncy
They need to beat Syracuse and then West Virginia to win the conference.

75. oh, that makes a bit more sense I guess
They shouldn't have a problem with Syracuse, so I think the WV game will be for Big East title. (Then again, West Virginia still has to go to Cincinnati next week, so that could make for an interesting game.)

80. Did Cal go throwback on us?
Reminds me of the Chuck Muncie/ Joe Roth (RIP) days watching way back in the day...

Boy, did Roth have a sweet touch on the fadeaway to the back corner of the endzone...
