I've lost 40.6 pounds
I started out at 287.4 on 8/10/07 and weighed in yesterday at 246.8. I've got a ways to go yet, but I'm feeling pretty good about reaching the 40 pound loss milestone. I want to get down to 200 pounds by next summer. Wish me luck and let me know if you want to know how I'm doing it.

4. Thanks, man
I bet I looked like a weeble wobble that time we met at the truck stop. Those bibs don't fit me anymore and I was filling them out pretty good at the time.

8. Ok, here's what I'm doing
When I started I looked up how many calories in would take to maintain my weight. For a moderately active, 35 year old, 5'10", 287 pound man that turned out to be about 3500 calories a day. So, it seemed logical to me that I would lose weight at a pretty good pace if I consumed no more than 2000 calories a day. I also drink only water and cut out most of the sugar. For a while there I was still drinking beer on the weekends, but I've given that up as well.

I had to take a close, honest look at what I was eating because I didn't think that I was consuming that much. But I really was and a lot of the calories were coming from sugar.

21. I was just gonna post, "Did you cut out sugar?"
Sounds like that's made a big improvement.

10. WOW
Thats awesome.....
I am sure you will lose the rest of the weight by the summer....
Don't get upset when you hit a plateau, some times all you need to do is change something in your routine or diet to get back on track.....

Right now i am at that point and need to revamp my workout and food intake...

ugh- especially after what I have eaten in the past few days....

Congrats!!!!

lost

13. Yeah, I know it's hard keeping it off once you've lost it

And I'm going to have to come up with some sort of plan for maintaining a healthy weight once I reach my goal. I love to eat. I wish I was one of those people who can eat whatever they want and not gain weight. I work with a guy like that. He's 6'2" and weighs 165. He actually wishes that he could put on weight. I guess fat folks aren't the only ones who have a poor image of their bodies.

16. 15% in roughly 3 1/2 months. Wow!
If you plateau, you can bounce your metabolism by cutting those 2000 calories into 5 or 6 little meals a day. Unbeatable metabolism kick.

Congrats!

29. Both
I eat no more than 2000 calories a day and I unload a semi trailer every night for my job as a trucker. People don't often think of trucking as a healthy lifestyle and for many it isn't because they get no exercise. But I get plenty.

31. Basically
It takes 3500 calories a day for a man of my size and activity level to maintain 287 pounds. I cut that down to no more than 2000 calories, drink only water, and stay away from sugar. I also get a lot of exercise at work. That's been my recipe from the beginning.

Simple. Easy. The best way to go.

I'm puny, so even with all my exercise my daily calorie allotment is small. Life ain't fair :-)
