A belated Happy Birthday to Harpo Marx! And HEAR Harpo actually speak!
Born Nov 23, 1888

From the Harpo Marx site http://www.harpomarx.net/

Listen to him here talking about a time when he got ill when he was playing piano in a brothel! A surprisingly deep voice.

2. He got such a look of tranquility on his face when he played
There was something approaching a state of grace about him when he sat down at his harp. I love to watch him just to see that absolute peace on his face.

3. so cool
just yesterday, I saw the old 'I Love Lucy' where he played 'Take me out to the ball game'. It was beautiful. A blurb came on the screen that told how he played and Vivian Vance sang after they wrapped up the show.

5. Props to Harpo!

My avatar, John Coltrane, was purported to have begun playing the harp and studying compositions for the instrument after seeing Harpo perform in a Marx Bros. movie.

No Harpo, No development of Coltrane's "sheets of sound" improvisational breakthrough.
