Why would somebody invent "synthahol"?
In the Trek Next Generation series, this beverage was made to simulate the taste of alcohol, but without its intoxicating effects.

Why would anybody drink this? It cheapens the value of the drink.

BTW: I'm sober and DYN-O-MITE right now. :bounce:

1. Yeah, that kind of defeats the point of drinking
Even if you are just having a couple.

2. I drink the stuff for its intoxicating effects, despite the taste!

3. Actually, I believe synthahol DID get you drunk
It's just that you could shake off the effects at will in order to get back on duty in an emergency.

At least, that's how I remember it. I wasn't as much a fan of TNG as TOS.

4. TOS ROCKS!! After all,
they had real booze and showed its effects on people.

It's the only show where Scotty could get away with incapacitating an enemy hijacker by encouraging him to drink!

5. Have you been watching these "remastered" TOSes?
That show is STILL awesome after four decades.

The remastered "Doomsday Machine" was as thrilling as any of the Star Trek movies.

8. I prefer the hard shit.
IF you can circumvent the embargo and get it.
Tougher than acquiring a box a Cubans.
