Should I be feeling guilty?
My kids and their father are putting up the Christmas tree and decorations in the other room. I just don't feel like doing it. I hate decorating. We inherited a shit load of knick knack crap from my MIL for every freakin concieveable holiday. I swear it looked like a Pilgrim threw up in my family room last week. I'm feeling rather bah humbug about it all. They keep asking me if I want to help. x(

3. Eh...this might be "take a bite of the shit sandwich" time.
I think your kids might appreciate a token effort. Although, as for m'self, I'm rather "bah humbug" too.

18. You could always just sit in the room and watch
and criticize everything he does... but that's not who you are, is it? You KNOW what you should do. and doing the right thing *is* a step toward the happy place. RL

My extended family decided to do mostly charity type gifts this year. I usually have the kids pick out a couple gifts to put under the Christmas tree at our local grocery store (they hang index cards with ages/gender of people in need)

17. We are at that awkward time
after the youngest has reached teenage, but the oldest hasn't borne fruit. So there is nobody to enjoy a Christmas tree. So no tree again this year.

20. Tell them you're making a stand for traditional Christmas values.
The tree should not be put up before Christmas Eve and should be down by January 6. Some traditions believe that putting the tree up too early or taking it down too late brings bad luck. Just tell them you're working hard to make 2008 a lucky one.

The kids might find it funny. :)

You could be the photographer! Take some pictures for posterity and all that! That would be an excellent contribution, and you wouldn't have to help decorate! :woohoo:

35. When I was young and volunteered to put up the tree, I did so...
Acuity wasn't my thing at the time and it was a little sloppy. Mum fixed it to her liking without telling me I'd done an inadequate job. It took me more time, but eventually I found ways to compensate one defect by emphasizing another. And I've gotten some good results. I shouldn't have felt guilty at the time. Dunno if that helped.

They all did a great job putting up their favorite decorations. I'm not one to fix the tree "just so". Their father does that and it gets them angry. A perfect tree for me is any one they put together. Thanks.
