gave me this morning. I almost had kittens myself, hearing that.

Called another place and they said the cat had to have a pre-dental physical, $15.00, before the cleaning. Bare bones cleaning will be $60.

3. we spent almost $600 last week on Percy's teeth
on Percy's dirty little kitty mouth x(

He had to be anesthetized (or whatever) and kept overnight, he had to have two teeth taken out and the rest just cleaned. The problem is his soft teeth or something though, our oldest cat who's at least 14 has never lost any teeth and his breath even smells kinda sweet all the time (he sleeps nose-to-nose with me) I guess some cats just have it a lot worse than others.

$60 sounds like a DEAL

4. Ginger gets his teeth cleaned about every 18 months. $300 sounds outrageous,

unless that vet is doing something extraordinary in your cat's mouth. If I were you, I'd ask friends and check around with other vets.

I think we pay about CHF 100 ($85 USD), including anesthesia and antibiotics (when Ginger has needed them after a cleaning; a couple of times he's had an oral infection), to get Ginger's teeth cleaned. (He's not boarded overnight, though, when he gets his teeth cleaned.)
