the rear window of my vehicle literally exploded on the interstate this morning.
I knew I shouldn't have used the rear defrost.

3. its a big vehicle, but it sounded like a shotgun blast behind me.
No glass in the passenger area.

5. Wow. I've never heard of that, and the defrost definitely
should not cause something like that to happen. :(

I am glad you're okay. I hope the dealer will fix it free of charge, given that it seems to be caused by a defect.

6. its a '95. I am thinking a hot spot...
that cooled quickly??? Like putting a hot glass dish in cold water? I'll look for a new tailgate assembly at a scrap yard, the tailgate is rusting out anyway.

7. That's so scary!
I'm glad you're okay. Although, it makes me a bit paranoid about using my rear defroster now.

Maybe I'll pick up some Fog-X or something. :scared:

8. It is a known issue on the model I drive. I would not hesitate on...
a newer vehicle to use the rear defrost.

11. that happened to me once
but I wasn't driving the car at the time.

the only other weird thing was the hood of the car coming off as I was driving down the road. Thank goodness I wasn't on the highway.

That's really scary. I've never even heard of such a thing. I'll immediately be adding that to the top of my list of things to worry about.

21. If you drive a newer car, and it is not a window that moves up and down...
I wouldn't worry at all.
