Crocs, the plastic clog like shoe...
I see these EVERYWHERE, I am sure I'm not the only one. I recently spent a week in the Florida Keys and saw men wearing these, something I don't see in Il.

And before you jump to conclusions, all the men were not gay. I sure wish I invented these simple plastic shoes.

Whats your opinion ?

45. Yes, they're recyclable. Here's the letter I got when I asked:
Dear (Heidi's real name),

Thank you for your concern for our environment and community.

Crocs, Inc. will be launching a new recycling program, SolesUnited, in early 2008. SolesUnited is a first of its kind program created in response to the desperate need for quality footwear in impoverished countries and areas affected by tragedy. Blending environmental and humanitarian efforts, we are collecting, regrinding, and remolding your old Crocs shoes into new and donating these to people in need of shoes around the world.

If you would like to donate your shoes for recycling purposes, please send them to one of the following addresses below.

Crocs Recycling - West
3375 Enterprise Ave.
Bloomington, CA. 92316

Crocs Recycling - East
1500 Commodity Blvd.
Lockbourne, OH 43137-9277

For more information on the Soles United program, please visit www.solesunited.org.

They're really comfy, except if I wear them w/o socks in the extreme heat, my feet sweat too much. Ugliness be damned, I love my Crocs! :bounce:

53. That's my assessment also. They may be every bit as comfortable
as people say, but I can't see myself wearing anything that ugly by choice. I have a large foot anyway for my size and those things would look like clown shoes on me.

He's some kind of engineer or something so I suppose he doesn't actually make or design the shoes.

I have no desire to buy any though. I prefer Tevas for my summer footware.

But I've not gone back to my other shoes at all, except on the snowy days when the holes in the crocs let in too much wetness.

I freaking love them!

I can see why doctors and nurses and Mario are so enamored of the things.

They're really, really comfortable.

They're great for slipping on before I go out in the garden, for when I'm on the boat, at the beach, kayaking, and my son wears his to and from the dojo. My first pair is still looking good after over a year and a half of abuse.

My wife wears em and they seem to be great for everything.

I guess it was just strange to see guys wearing them, didn't the trend start with little girls wearing them ? I remember driving down the road passed 6 bus stops and every stop had little girls wearing pink crocs. I don't really follow trends, but I started seeing these things laying around my house, and I don't have any little girls.

22. unisex footwear... great for diabetics too.
If pink isn't your color, or neon rubber isn't your thang, try the tan, sage green, navy blue or black.

I've seen lots of men wearing them. Comfort this good shouldn't be reserved for little girls.

If I'm not wearing my Birkenstocks (Birki's) I'm in me Crocs!

Besides, imagine how you could "personalize" YOUR pair with a few of those "Jibbitz"!

until the Joint Commission (or our hospital's interpretation of their guidelines) declared them unsafe as they have holes and a needle could stick you through the holes.

they are ugly, but i'll admit they are comfy.

have a pair that i've nearly worn out that were brown, and not the multi color brightness that is shown above.

57. not for me, but good for my almost 5 year old daughter
At her old preschool, they asked kids to bring bathing suits, towels, etc because they had "water play" during the summer.

But, with regular flip-flops, they often fell off her feet and one day, she got a cut on her foot from the wood chips they had on the ground there.

So, I bought her crocs because they don't fall off as easily.

but ooohhh so freaking comfortable.

I have a bone spur, plantar facsiatis and a neuroma all in the same foot. Couple that with fibromyalgia all-around pain and I am a limper. These shoes have made me stop limping. I no longer have the throbbing pain in my heel and between my toes. I tried all sorts of orthopaedic shoes and these actually did the trick.

Too bad they are so freaking awful to look at.

The Japanese government on Friday urged people to be careful while wearing the popular Crocs clogs or imitations on escalators after 40 people were said to have their shoes caught, with one little girl injured. A consumer safety group reported 40 incidents in which people, mostly children, had Crocs stuck on escalators from late August until early this month. One five-year-old girl broke her middle toe and three of her toenails were ripped off after her shoe was stuck on the moving stairs, said the group, the National Institute of Technology and Evaluation. Six other people were mildly injured including children as young as two, it said. The remaining 33 people reported that their shoes were damaged.
