One of the worst sounds in the world is an animal in pain.

I heard a terrible squeal outside and Pippin the Dog started barking hysterically. I looked outside, and just over the fence, my neighbor's two dogs were tangled somehow (close, but not "with" each other). One of the dog's ears were pinned back, and the other was standing near him, his head bowed but I did not see him crane his neck for a good while. The neighbor emerged from his house and started looking at the backs of the dogs. He immediately got on the phone. After five minutes, I decided to go out and ask if he needed help with the dogs, but when I opened the back door, I saw the dogs prancing around the yard, seemingly in good health.

The neighbor is now gone, as are the dogs.

I certainly don't know what happened.

This is the second time a dog has gotten hurt in that back yard. A couple of years ago, one of the dogs (just a puppy then) broke his leg when playing with the larger dog. I still cannot get that horrible sound out of my head.

I just hope everything is okay. I hate seeing or hearing animals hurting. :cry:
