BOY there is SOME SHIT going on in GD today!
I "Ignored" 2 newbies and an old timer on one thread alone over there; a thread on the two Whaling protesters held on the Japanese chase boat. Seems that one of the newbies thinks Greenpeace is composed of Pirates, and suggested a response to their argument against whaling (especially in the Preserve claimed by Australia) with a MK 48 or MK 50 torpedo.

Some seriously reactionary assholes that seem to have found the wrong forum somehow.

1. yes -- this latest round of the whaling thing
has brought out some serious crazies.

hello? -- they wouldn't have boarded the ship if it weren't for barbarous act of whaling.

the problem begins and ends with the whalers.

5. Ehhh, if we're talking about Jack Sparrow kind of pirates, then I could see your argument. But if we
are just talking the run of the mill Blackbeard kind of pirates, wellllllll.....

10. Who wouldn't join?
The latent homosexuality of it all would be enough to make their paid membership double overnight!

3. Who would eat whale?
That's what gets me. Who would eat a whale? That would be like eating a dolphin or an ape. I don't know, just the thought of eating whale grosses me out.

And you can lion burgers in eastern Africa.

6. Kangaroos don't TALK, and Lions are the most successful and numerous predator in Africa.
Not trying to justify some yahoo that wants to gobble lion: they probably think it makes their dick bigger.

And Kangaroos aren't exactly endangered, but again I'm not justifying another set of yahoos that thing eating exotic meat is cool either.

7. I wouldn't call kangaroos "exotic"
At least, not in Australia. They're traditional food for the Aboriginies there, and are kind of the equivalent of deer here.

Kangaroo scrotum purses, on the other hand, are just wrong.

8. Oh, I just meant along the lines of like, people in Houston eating "Wild Boar Medalions"
As far as the Aborigines go, I figure it's their damned Sub-Continent, so if they want to eat Roos, more power to them. But some White Guy poseur eating Roo like someone who orders Rattlesnake Meat Chili...

That's the kind of "Exotic" I'm talking about. Like some Japanese fucker who wants Kobe Beef raised on beer, or, Whale meat.

That's not a slur, just a fact.

16. Time to join the 21st century.
They don't need the whale meat. They are actually touting it as a low fat lunch item for busy executives.

On top of that, they "claim" this is for "research."

9. The whaling season brings out
some of the more "interesting" character values in some around here.

It's also one of the more "did you even READ the OP?" barometers for me.

13. I gotta say, I'm a meat eater...
but I balk at the idea of eating something smart enough to talk. Once you get to a certain intelligence level the line between 'hunting' and 'murdering' gets a bit blurry.

17. My thoughts exactly, but I'm backing off on the meat.
Health AND ethical issues, but I'll probably continue to include fish and some poultry in the diet, mainly eggs. As for the red meat issues, I'll probably back down to cheese and dairy.

Sort of a "red meat is no longer ecologically viable" thing more than anything else.

I used to rarely eat red meat. If you really are what you eat, then I was a big chicken for several years. :)

I eat it a lot more now, but that's mostly because the doctors keep telling my grandpa to eat more red meat for protien, and since I eat with my grandparents every night...
