how big are most people's ignore lists?
Mine has topped 30 now. And I've only been here less than a month.

Maybe I just need to give up an log on out for good...

1. I've remained steadily at 0 since I got here.
But I don't usually go to GD or GD:P. :) I pretty much just stick to the forums where I can relax and be myself. So mostly just lounge and GLBT.

11. BTW, did you ever play some of the later LucasArts games...
...like Sam and Max, Day of the Tentacle, and (my favorite) Grim Fandango? I was fairly pissed when Lucas decided he was just going to crank out Star Wars knockoffs from now on...

13. Yep. There were some gems in there.
I just bought Sam and Max season 1, it's decent. But not as good as the first game.

I never did get to play Grim Fandango though, I need to get ahold of a copy of that one. And I didn't get to play Monkey Island 4, but from what I've heard I'm not missing much.

And to be fair to Lucasarts, they didn't just crank out Star Wars titles... they've also done some Indiana Jones titles too. :P

...but you HAVE to find and play Grim Fandango.

Honestly, 10 years after it came out, it still ranks as one of the top games I've ever played.

2. I rarely use iggy....I use it sparingly
just to cool other's heels for a little while. I call it 'probation.' :P

You'll have to grow a thicker skin to survive on any political board,

especially during the primaries!! 7 yrs. of abuse by B* and the rethugs

and some Dems have people in a frenzy. If it gets to hot, come to the lounge.

But also try to let things roll off your back. It's just the 'heat of the moment.

Some people who piss me off, are just fine on non-political threads.

Everyone here, with few exceptions, has lost their cool on DU. Don't take it to heart.

Not remembering names and who said what or trying to remember who said what, helps too! ;)

Another poster and I have problems "getting along" here on DU. We've had a conversation or two in private, and those were pretty cool. I actually have a lot of respect for that other poster, but we butt heads like mad here.

Kind of like a "clean up on aisle 6" it's easier for the Mods to just say, "okay, flvegan and xxxx must not discuss anything".

I'm good with it. Mods make good calls.

...I don't think any of them have been personal with me except maybe one who apparently seeks to destroy any comment with anything positive to say about Biden - and even he seems to be an equal-opportunity attacker.

I guess I've added people when they've said something so offensive a couple of times that I just figured, save myself the clutter of their stuff.

Actually, it's amazing how many of those long back-and-forth arguments now look like

I only have seven myself or maybe nine. I always get curious though. Sometimes though it's kinda funny. I see threads like this
5. Ignored
7. What??? How can you say that? (reply to five)
9. ignored
13. That's totally ignorant (reply to nine)

I feel like PMing the person who is arguing with them (uh, that's why I have them on ignore)

Once I replied to somebody that I knew had me on ignore. I think that inspired me to write a pretty good post, knowing that she would not see it. Because somebody replied with "what a great post!" so the person who had me on ignore would see
8. ignored
14. What a great post! (reply to 8)

later I discovered she had taken me off of ignore.

Hey, I topped 1,000 a few years ago. I kid you not. There was a certain phrase that I decided would earn an instant Ignore because I was tired of hearing it, and it was astonishing how big my Ignore list got.

Every once in a while I clear it out and give people another chance. (And then I quickly remember why some of them were there. It's like DU has become overrun with assholes overnight.)

I love those "Ignored" conversations, too. It reminds me that often my instincts are right on. :D

Secondly, I don't feel the need. If someone is a jerk in one post, no big deal. Maybe they're having a bad moment. They may have something interesting to say later on, and I wouldn't want to miss out. I try not to let people get under my skin.

I imagine I'm on several ignore lists.

I had a poster I had never spoken to before, and wasn't speaking to then, put me on ignore because he/she/it didn't like my opinion.

Isn't that a little crappy - to descend into someone's thread and then inform them you're putting them on ignore because they didn't like something in the post?

And not because I disagree with him/her, but because of gratuitous nastiness. I've taken this person off a few times, only to have him/her rapidly remind me of why ignore exists: if I want to see people being verbally abused in the vilest of terms, I should go back to my last job and get paid for it! Now said poster is Dead to Me.
