Well, THIS week is starting off with a fucking BANG.
Walk in the door at work, one of the few people I actually LIKE around here wished me a "Happy Martin Luther Coon Day."

My Daughter the "Wild Child" who has wanted to go live with her mother in New York for YEARS (according to her) and not just burned but BOMBED all her bridges here right down to the foundations is hinting at coming "...home to Michigan..."

The political race has changed from an interesting slate to a dumb show: thanks, BOTH front runners. REALLY appreciate it.

I am in my FOURTH FUCKING WEEK of this damned bronchial virus.

My Sciatic nerve/leg-hip nerve overactivity issue is becoming painful to the point of actual DISTRACTION from reality.

I feel the start of a migraine for the 14TH FUCKING DAY IN A ROW.

Where did I put that pistol and a plastic sheet for my blood so as not to make too bad a mess?

You co-worker needs to f*** off.

Your daughter best be crawling home to Michigan.

The political race - well - I can't help ya there.

Your health :hug: please take it easy and take care of yourself...no pistols allowed.

3. Thank you for your concern.
Wish he WAS my co-worker. This is a family owned company, and he is high-ranking family. The sad thing is, I thought better of him.

If my Wild-Child daughter even shows up at the door, if my wife answers there may be homicide.

Just confirms my suspicions that the Human Race is getting ready to do something so stupid that it goes extinct: I sincerely wish the rats luck.

Migraines are just a part of my life now. I can't even get a prescription for Cafergot which used to work well, because one of it's major side effects is drastically decreased peripheral circulation, and mine (at 55) is just about shot as it is: my hands would fall off.

You can't always get it
When you really want it
You can't always get it at all
Just because there's space
In your life it's a waste
To spend your time why don't you wait for the call

(just gotta get used to it)
We all get it in the end
(just gotta get used to it)
We go down and we come up again
(just gotta get used to it)
You irritate me my friend
(this is no social crisis)
This is you having fun
(no crisis)
Getting burned by the sun
(this is true)
This is no social crisis
Just another tricky day for you

16. There are many migraine meds out there
My doc has me on one that's been miraculous: it's actually an anti-depressant that has the side effect of raising the pain threshold. It cut my migraines down from every other week to once or twice yearly, and the ones I do get aren't nearly as bad.

There are also anti-seizure meds that do the same trick. Ask your doctor.

22. As the old saying goes....
"I've tried everything but prayer..."

Vascular cluster migraines, mobile, aural and non-aural. Stress induced.

Only thing that works are traditional heavy pain killers. Percs are best.

30. Do you have health insurance, Tyler?
I have my migraines under control, FINALLY.

But the meds are expensive. Called Topamax. PM me if you want
details....

My migraines were BASILAR (compound).

And I have had that crappy virus (one whole WEEK of fever!!!)

Now it's just a cough, and I had today off, but back to work tomorrow.

(sorry about your crap co-worker...)

2. Wish the co-worker a "Happy Fucking Klan" day.
Migraine? Those are a bitch. The only help for me is a dark quiet room to crash in. I've never tried "Head-on" (apply directly to the forehead), but migraines can tempt me to try any and all snake-oils, even when I know better.

Plastic sheet? You are a very considerate person. (I'm sure you're kidding, right?)

4. It was good enough for H. Beam Piper, it's good enough for me.
He did it in a bathtub with the shower curtain pulled.

The plastic sheet trick was used in Lethal Weapon 2.

Don't worry. I've got a massive Death Phobia requiring medication. The last thing I would ever do is commit suicide.

5. OH GREAT. The tic in my right eye just started up.
And my neck is getting stiff from the god damned computer screen/trifocal disagreement.

Drugs, please. LOTS of drugs, starting with PERCODAN, and proceeding to Courvoisier.

6. ditchthe trifocals and get your eye care person to create a good RX for a single vision
Edited on Mon Jan-21-08 11:05 AM by yellowdogintexas
lens that will work at the computer only. Yeah it is an xtra pair of glasses but it gets rid of the whole trifocal/bifocal issue. I had a cheap pair made up at one of those 2 for one optical places and kept a pair at work and a pair at home, just for computer work and working with other things requiring only near vision...reading in bed, etc. It helped amazingly with the cricks in neck, muscle aches etc which triggered migraines.

Now I wear monovision contacts which totally solved the problem ...I wear a Toric lens on left eye which totally corrects distance and astigmatism and a mild correction for near on the right eye which has no astigmatism. Works great, I can see to drive, see at the movies and work the computer and no eyewear on my nose and ears, which is a bonus since I wear a headset at work

14. well, too bad. however. if you are changing from one multifocal
RX to a new one, that will trigger headaches, I know! Been there. This is because you have to get accustomed all over again to the new ways you have to hold your head to see. However, getting the single lens in the gradient you use for desk work simplifies things a bit..at least it did for me.

9. YIKES
You win--I'm sorry to say.

I was just wondering if it's something in the water today, because my day just started off with a coworker/friend calling to ream me out about a freelance job. It was all a big misunderstanding, but it was like she refused to even hear what I was saying and acted like I was trying to sabotage her or something. Work and personal relationships are hanging by a thread right about now. What a Monday.

Seriously thinking about going back to bed...

10. Man, I am sorry.
I hope the week gets better.

Bronchial infection. Have an old country remedy
that really helps with the congestion. This works,
I have used it many many times. Smear the soles of
your feet with Vicks Vapor Rub, put on a thick pair
of cotton socks (slippers too, the key is keeping your
feet warm). Do not ask me why it works but it does,
you will notice a difference in a couple of hours. I
usually do it at night before going to bed.
:hi:

13. My SO thought
it was funny as crap
the first time he saw me
do it. He is one of 14 kids
raised on a farm and he says,
you are supposed to slice an
onion, chop and smash it to a
runny, pulpy, stinky mess, and
wrap the soles of your feet in
that. HE swears it will take
care of a fever too.
I just figured you would reek
so bad the sickness would leave.
I have not tried it, and I refuse
to let him do it either.

Seriously, it will help the
congestion. I am prone to bouts
of bronchitis over the winter and
this helps me. I hope it helps you too.

15. That is just beyond ridiculous
Gawd. Wow, that snotty co-worker remark would be sufficient to ruin my whole day, let alone anything else. I'm from Chicago, though, so I'm not real surprised you heard it in Michigan. Rust Belt racism is all kinds of nasty.

Has Wild-Child ALWAYS been this way? Or is this puberty-induced insanity?

I'm not a doctor and DU rules prevent me from playing one, so I'll just say, "As your attorney, I advise you to try the mescaline."

We had 500 of them in a sealed bottle, just like you get at the pharmacy, courtesy of the US Diplomatic Corps in 1973.

If you need to get to some warmer weather, well, not today it's only 19 degrees here. Feel free to pack the pups and come on down.

23. Have to send you pics of the guys.
Brigi has lost weight and is down to her old svelt 26 pounds, and Charlie has also lost some flab. Vinnie is HUGE. 33 pounds of MUSCLE. He and his new buddy Jack (1/2 black lab, 1/2 pibble) run each other around like CRAZY. Sneezer (1/2 Corg, 1/2 Border) is recovering nicely from a bout with Peripheral Vascular Inflamation.

Charlie had a misshap. Maybe remembering his balls, he challenged Vinnie, who wimped and Jack came to the rescue, putting in another neck puncture. I've never come so close to grabbing a pliers and performing "Home Extractions." Not really; he was just doing his job.

be taken care of by a plastic sheet. I was made a walking dead woman by a man that would be heartbroken if he knew how much this has killed me. I miss him so much that it is a struggle to breathe every damned day of my life. I know you probably said it in jest but it almost made me vomit.

26. Well Tyler, I can recall one of the worse days of my life...
Well, not to be overly dramatic....It wasn't caused by something serious, just everyday crap that happened all at once.

In high school, I got into some kind of trouble and had to stay a little late to get reprimanded.

This made me late for my after school job working in a high end china and gift shop.

I HAD to be on time, I had a strict boss.

As I was running home to change, a bird shit on my head. It must have been a big bird, because the bird shit was running down my face.

I get home, and did not have time to take a shower, so I washed my hair quickly in the sink. In my haste to put my glasses back on, I jammed one of the stems to the glasses up my nose. Hard. And deep. I think it touched my brain. My nose started hemorrhaging profusely. I got so pissed off that I punched to door to my linen closet in the bathroom. Put my hand through the door. My hand swelled up like a balloon.

After I got the nose bleed stopped and iced down my hand, I went to work. I was late. Got chastised.

Went to the warehouse to pick up a piece of expensive bone china. I dropped it. When I was cleaning it up, a piece of it poked into the side of my finger. I had to leave work and go get stitches.

Jesus, that was a bad fucking day.

I hope your day improves.

27. With the exception of the ugly racial remark....
Thats been my life for the past 6 months (family and health issues plus work overload). In fact everything has come to such a head for me (including having to deal with a dishonest coworker who might be getting me in trouble) that I had a massive anxiety attack last night and am home trying to sleep off the effects of it (try sleeping when you are hyperventilating..it doesn't work)
All I know is one thing..as soon as I get my health insurance straight (another mess I am in now) I think its time for the anti-anxiety treatments again.
I feel for you though. I really understand what its like to have issue after issue pile on top of you.
