Help needed from all you wonderful DUers
Edited on Mon Jan-21-08 07:51 PM by SharonRB
I'm working on Nancy Skinner's campaign for U.S. House in MI-09. Nancy almost beat 14-year incumbent Joe Knollenberg in '06, losing by only 5% despite being outspent 7 to 1. Well, Nancy is running again, but faces a tough primary opponent this time out. Nancy is the more progressive of the two and he is the establishment candidate, being supported by the state party and Rahm Emanuel and the DCCC. They pushed her aside even though she almost won last time.

Well, the DFA Grassroots All Stars contest has begun and Nancy is in 4th place, needing just 15 votes at this point to move into third place. The top three go on to the finals. The kicker is that her primary opponent, who wasn't even in the top 10 a few hours ago, is now gaining quickly and has moved into 6th place. Voting ends at 12 a.m. on January 28.

If you haven't voted yet, would you consider going to http://www.democracyforamerica.com/gras and voting for Nancy? It would be greatly appreciated! She came in second in 2006 and I'd love to see her win it all this time. When you go to vote, you can read about Nancy before you vote -- I wouldn't want you to vote for her if you don't like what you see. Or, you can go to her website at http://www.skinnerforcongress.com.

Thank you, my fellow DUers! I'm counting on you to help us out on this.

9. Thanks, Thom!
:hi:

How have you been lately? I hope you're feeling okay these days.

There are some great candidates -- many of whom I'm shocked aren't in the top 10 right now.

11. Hi Sharon!
I'm doing well. :)

I'm getting my first wheelchair next week, so my mobility is going to improve. Work is tolerable. I'm not quite ready to snarl at my roommate. All in all, not too bad. :P

I hope you're doing okay too!

12. I've actually been better
My mom was just diagnosed with cancer, and I don't think the prognosis is looking very good. We may have just months left with her.

14. I'm very sorry.
:(

I hope you get to spend good time with her.

Cancers run in my family. Three relatives died of three different cancers, and both of my parents are cancer survivors of different cancers. I hope your family can pull together so you're all there for each other.

This is all so new for us. No one in our family has had cancer before.

10. Please also vote for Dan Grant (TX-10).
We do have two Democrats running to take out Mike McCaul, but Dan is much the better of the two, in my opinion.

I voted for Dan, Nancy and Steve Bush, who's trying to beat the horrific Joe Barton.

13. Thanks, GOP
We also have two people running, as you probably saw if you looked at the current results. Gary Peters is the establishment candidate and right now he's only about 130 votes behind Nancy. He's got the party machinery behind him. She's the more progressive of the two. The party threw her aside even though she was Knollenberg's near-death experience in 2006. Please spread the word!
