I've given up on my career, and
plan on low stress for the rest of my earth time.

I plan on selling burritos and chili to businesses around town.

am I nuts?

1. Well, the chili works better with beans instead of nuts...
oh, wait. I misread that. :P

I don't know if you're nuts or not... but I wish you luck either way.

3. Use beans, not nuts.
:P

If you're serious about it, go for it. There will always be a market for good food. :)

4. I'm thinking of doing something similar
a lunch truck that specializes in hot dogs.

There's no place around me to get a good hot dog....

I've had my eye on a bus/truck for sale for some time now, and am itching to go for it.

6. probably if you ever want to have health care/insurance once you're over 40
i am deeply sorry that i went the route of self employment and i think people should go in eyes open knowing that they MUST be married to someone else with a job that can't be lost that provides health insurance or else, basically, in most states they're screwed once they've over 40 or so

the combination of a business that potentially will lose money or at best be low profit means that you will never be able to get sick or hurt, and if you do it will cost you and your family big time

there is nothing low stress about having a poorly compensated business where you are the boss and where you have to pay for all of the benefits, including health insurance, which is not readily available to self employed people in many states

sorry, that's my advice, if you are seeking low stress, you need to stay in some j-o-b and it will probably have to be at least enough of a career-type job to pay health benefits

there is no such thing as being low stress and being self employed, that is a huge huge HUGE lie
promoted by the sellers of self-improvement books who don't care about you or the harm they do, they won't be there to wipe up the mess when you get sick

8. As long as you don't mind keeping your life very simple...
you should be happy.

Trouble starts when we start wanting more stuff, more new stuff, and the best stuff money can buy.

Best of luck to you!

12. Exactly...
Too bad we are becoming so programmed to buy stuff and buy it immediately, when the price is twice what it will be in a year.

11. Not if you live near me. I'm always hungry.
Good luck on the no stress part though. Short of suicide, at least. :)
