Is it just me, or are mashups going downhill?

I'm sure there's people out there who don't care for mashups, but I find well-done mashups amusing. However, these days it seems like they're mostly some rap tune combined with some dance track. Not a lot of imagination or hard work, just BPM matching.

I haven't really been impressed since the one that combined "Roxanne" and "Super Freak." However, I heard one today that combines "Superstition" and "Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine" that comes close.

Billie Holiday and Mecca, the Ladybug (from Digable Planets) do a fine job together.

More of a remix than a mashup I guess, but pure gold.
