2. These poor little pigs have been bred down to stay very small!
I don't remember how big they do get, but they are called tea-cup pigs! Plus I like big fat pigs too!

11. micro-mini pigs actually get no bigger than about 65 lbs, and full-size potbellies...
weigh in at about 300, tops.

Still, owning a pig, even a small one, is definitely a commitment.

13. My husband wouldn't allow it I am sure. With 3 dogs already and a
baby on the way, the last thing I need is another pet. But one day, I will have a pig. I have always wanted one.

9. My mother in law got a pygymy pig as a pet. It lasted a few months.
To be fair to the pig, it was supposed to be a pygmy, but at a few months old it was already 25 pounds. I don't know what her kids were thinking.

14. They got the seller to take it back. It was a crazy idea they got after their dad died that she'd
like a pig to keep her company. In fairness, she had SAID she always wanted one. But she said it conversationally, not like she was declaring a strongly held lifetime desire.

16. 25 lb is still pretty small
heh, in my family a 25 lb dog is still considered a lap dog.

18. Yeah but he was starting at 25 pounds. And she was elderly, and alone, and
quite frankly really didn't want a pet - so ever pound counted against the beast.

15. oooh too cute
after seeing the photos last week of the dog nursing the piglet I've been thinking that I would love to have a little piggy. If I ever get my own house again I may consider one of the smaller breeds. I've got two big dogs so I'm used to bigger animals but I don't know that I'd want one that got bigger than me. It's my dream to some day have a little plot of land out in the middle of nowhere and have a bunch of dogs, a pet pig, a couple of hens for eggs, a big kitchen garden and try to live as much of a self-sustained lifestyle as I could (knowing full well I'd have to become vegetarian because I wouldn't be able to butcher an animal). That's the happy place I imagine when I'm having an anxiety attack. I hope someday it comes true.

Although, if anyone wants to start a commune I would seriously be interested in that too (in 6 years after my kids become adults).

17. Your dream sounds a lot like mine! I want some land for
horses, cows, my dogs, and some piggies! Of course I too would have to become vegetarian because I could no longer eat meat that came from animals that I keep as pets!
