Such Anti-Gay Bias On American Idol *SPOILER*

Danny Noriega got kicked off in favor of Chackezie (or however you spell his name).

First of all, Danny was a much better singer than Chackezie, and much more entertaining.

Secondly, yeah, he was flaming, but that just added to his overall entertainment value. Plus, he could sing. So people comparing him to Sanjaya are way off base. Sanjaya couldn't sing, which is what made him such a curiosity.

But this guy could actually belt it out.

Such a shame.

I have no doubt that anti-gay bias played a part in this.

and it's not hard to figure out that the guy was too outspoken for the producers to take a chance and keep him on the show. Simon, especially, hated him - even though the guy is a damn good singer with a nice voice.

4. On MSNBC.com today there was an article asking if people were ready for

a Gay Idol...apparently not...they pointed to Danny a video of him showing him rapping and admitting to being gay.

The other guy is gay and he has been all over the entertainment "news" shows as being a dancer at a gay club and blah blah blah, but I think he stayed on tonight. If it was all about being gay then those two would have been off tonight I would think.

I also think that the video of that Danny from You Tube probably turned off a lot of the younger kids who vote. He is saying something like "I hope Santa goes to your house and rapes your mother".

He made it to the top 12. I didn't know about that YouTube video, but I thought that Danny Noriega was just weird. He made that goofy gesture at Simon and just had an obnoxious attitude, IMO.

I was happy to see him go.

I loved his cheek and his attitude. He made me laugh and DAMN but can he sing.

No matter, imo. With a voice like his, he's got places to go whether AI fans choose him or not.

9. TOTALLY agree with this

Simon has never hid his homophobia ("girly," etc.). When Danny came swooning out on Tiesday, I looked at Haruka and said,"Dimon's gonna hate teh arrangement... and Danny's way too gay for Simon to keep around."

I was right in both cases.

I liked Danny, and wish he was there and Cheesie was gone.

21. My 8 year old just cried herself to sleep...

because Danny got kicked off of Idol. I have been hearing about almost nothing but Danny Noriega for weeks. When they announced he was gone, she burst into tears and said she would never watch AI again and that she hated Simon Cowell. I told her it really wasn't Simon's fault, that not enough of the American people voted for Danny. She then told me she hates America. Oy.

22. I don't know. I wasn't ever THAT impressed with Danny's singing.

I thought his first two performances were at best ok. However, I did really like his arrangement of "Tainted Love". (It's still bouncing around my head now).

It would have been fun to have him around for a little while longer, but I always thought he'd end up going home sooner rather than later.

One trend I've noticed is that contestants who do trade insults with the judges do tend to go home sooner rather than later, which also does not bode well for Chikezie.

I saw the headline before I saw the show. When it was down to Danny and Chekezie, it was obvious to me what the result would be, based on this headline.

It's stupid to put *SPOILER* in a headline that contains a spoiler.

31. IMHO Danny wasn't very good.

If he didn't move on to the next round it was simply because the people that vote didn't like him as much as the others.
I've never completely agreed with who has gotten voted off but I don't vote for the AI so I don't have say.

33. I actually like Chekezie...

I think he has a beautiful, soulful voice that hasn't been heard in this competition in a while. I'm biased though because every season, I yearn for another Ruben so I always root for the soulful singers. I was an Elliot Yamin fanatic during his season for that reason.

Danny's voice was okay but he never blew me away. He was fun to watch though.
