Does anyone recall a TV movie about several southern sheriffs?

I forget the title but it was in two or three parts. I think two sheriffs get called by a psycho and the third one discovers what's been going on. It was a good series back in the days of fairly decent Big Network programming.

That was a terrific miniseries about police chiefs over the years in a small Southern town and their search for a longtime serial killer named Foxy Funderburke. It had a great cast headed by Charlton Heston.
