Most spectacular Darwin Award candidate I've seen so far...
Rule #1 at a gas station: Do *NOT* use a lighter to check levels of gasoline! :wow:

1. and one of the popular arguments against hydrogen as a fuel is
"but, it's EXPLOSIVE" Well, idiot, so is gasoline. If that had been propane - the entire city block would have been gone.

3. I don't know.
If he did, not only was he burned pretty bad, the fall off the top of the truck didn't help.

6. If he didn't
he's not a candidate for a Darwin Award.

So how are the Darwin Awards actually determined?

Nominees significantly improve the gene pool by eliminating themselves from the human race in an obviously stupid way. They are self-selected examples of the dangers inherent in a lack of common sense, and all human races, cultures, and socioeconomic groups are eligible to compete. Actual winners must meet the following criteria:

Reproduction
Out of the gene pool: dead or sterile.
Excellence
Astounding misapplication of judgment.
Self-Selection
Cause one's own demise.
Maturity
Capable of sound judgment.
Veracity
The event must be true.

7. But if he didn't survive
doesn't that make him eligibile?

8. I'd wager that would make him a prime candidate
The Darwin rules are clear, though: Y'gotta die.

19. two points:
If he didn't survive, it means he died. Therefore he's eligible. I think your wording was backwards.

Second, one doesn't have to die - he coulda burned his testicles off and still been eligible.

17. that still seems rather unclear
either the rules were written funny (offering the choice of death OR sterility) or else demise doesn't necessarily mean death (sort of like casualty, you know?)
