Who here has ever bought something at a school uniform store
Long after they've left school... and not for their kids.

5. A lot of harry potter fans
are buying school clothing to dress up like the characters in the HP movies.

I'm a member of a harry potter themed meetup group. I don't dress up. All I have is a t-shirt with the Hufflepuff house shield on it. But most of the members have full robes and scarves and hats and stuff.

7. I have a full Slytherin House costume...
Edited on Mon Mar-10-08 09:04 PM by skater314159
... and I've worn it to every book release and movie opening since PoA... when I got PS and CoS, I hadn't made and bought all of my costume yet (and there weren't any "midnight parties", just pick it up in the store during regular hours).

Yeah, I'm a total Potter Geek and have been since 1997. My husband and I went on our first "real big over-night date" to the HBP release (he wore a button that said "blending in with you Muggles"), and he actually dressed up for DH.

Are you a HP fan or cosplay? ;-)

EDIT: need to fix typey error

I might have considered bit before my disability, but I definitely can't now. I'm a fan who hangs around with much more serious fans. :)

I never heard the word "cosplay" until tonight when tI read it in the Ninja Warrior subtitles. Haruka told me what it was. Now, I read it here.

20. Eh. Who needs school uniform stores when Frederick's of Hollywood is at the mall?
I swear I could open my own lingerie store for women who wear size medium. My husband alternates slutty / elegant / theme costume whenever he brings something home. By my reckoning I should be on the receiving end of an elegant nightgown when my husband returns from the latest business trip.

*sigh* I'm perfectly happy with my Donald Duck plaid flannel PJs.

21. Yes -- but then you don't get to see the look on the uniform store clerk's face
when you tell them you need a real tie, not a clip-on.

Then, there was the call to ThomCat asking him how to tie a tie.

41. content deleted by moderator...
This thread is useless without pics!!!!

Specifically-- (content deleted by moderator) of long (content deleted by moderator) with a few (content deleted by moderator) capped off with one or two (content deleted by moderator).

A rather youngish (early 20's) co-worker of mine goes to a club in Dallas that hosts a "Naughty Catholic Schoolgirl" night every so often. She showed me some pictures. Never have I felt like a dirty old man until that moment.

42. Where do you find quality uniforms?
All of my 12 years of catholic school, our uniforms were made out of polyester, maybe 20% cotton, tops.

43. They have two tiers of uniforms
There's a cheaper polyester version, and then there's the wool skirt. I think the shirt is poly cotton. The only thing that's polyester is the tie.

47. Sadly, no
Both grade and high school made deals with the uniform suppliers - you couldn't buy anything other than what the school had contracted you to buy. I'm just trying to find a way to blame the church here :-)
