We talked, laughed and consumed refreshments...

Who knew there was an island 30 miles from los angeles that is 99% unoccupied and incredibly pristine.

I am dead serious about paddling from Cabrillo Beach, or White's Point to Catalina. Do you know where the best kayaking places around the island?

33. You can easily kayak all the way around the island.

I have a friend who has done it.

And there are kayak in campgrounds nicely spaced.

That's a long kayak ride from San Pedro. But it's been done. Probably best in the summer when the weather is more predictable.

I would take the ferry or hitch a ride with a boater with my kayak and take it from there.

41. Paddling across is the quest.

It's old school like the Chumash, Yurok, La Jolla, and a number of other of the California indigenous peoples. Of course I'd be looking forward to a buffalo burger and milkshake at end of the crossing. When I make the crossing it will be during the fall when the water and weather are calmest. Chances are that I will take the sissy way, and have my yak ported back. The company that runs "freight" are pretty inflexible when it comes to transporting peoples yaks.
