Help! My QuickTime Viewer, PictureViewer and iTunes have all stopped working.
I can't even open the programs. Anybody know how to fix this?

4. Sure. Sympathy is always welcome.
:-)

I'm holding out the hope that when I get home and start up my computer, things will go back to the way they were before.

6. Well, if you believe that someday Apple will post a 1-800 number for
tech support, instead of making you wend your way through a morass of on-line troubleshooting questions that come nowhere near addressing the actual problem, then you believe in magic... B-)

11. Guys are different. Personally, I love chocolate, but every time I eat it,
not only doesn't it solve all my problems, it actually creates new ones.

Christmas, Halloween and Valentine's Day are all pretty rough at my house...

8. I'm assumming you've scanned for viruses and spyware?
I don't think you've given the tech gurus enough information to help.

10. Well, the last thing I did before the problem started was download
the latest version of Quicktime and iTunes. Then a screen popped up asking something like did I want to tie all of the applications onto one...I don't know...THING, I guess. I stupidly clicked 'No', thinking it would reset all my apps. Well, it did it anyway, or at least just so I can't use Quicktime, PictureViewer, and iTunes.

12. Try starting the download again?
did you abort the download? My daughter stopped a itunes update in the middle and did have to download the entire program again. Did you backup your songs before starting the update?

13. I didn't abort the download. I'm pretty sure it completed.
Should I try it again when I get home? (I'm on my computer at work; it's okay, I'm at lunch.)

17. Well, it can't hurt
since they're not working anyway. But I'm no expert -- and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night. :)

Good Luck!

14. Windows Vista.
I've heard so many horror stories about WV, but I haven't had any problems with it since I got the computer.

20. I've had a similar problem. Try this:
-Open the task manager--ctrl-alt-del then click "start task manager"
-Click on the 'Processes' tab and look for iTunes.exe. You'll probably find iTunes related things too. Leave those alone.
-If you're having the same problem I've had, you'll find a few copies of iTunes.exe.
-Click each occurance, and use the 'end process' button to end the process (ignore the warning that comes up and end the process).
-Once they're all gone, minimize the Task Manager and try opening iTunes again.

If that doesn't work, try restarting your computer.

After reading about your download problem, it may just be a simple case of needing to reinstall iTunes (QuickTime gets installed along with it).

I see you are using Vista, in that case, I cant help you.

Apple would if you had a Mac and had Applecare on it. Then, you would call, talk to someone that knows english and would solve your problem.

Applecare is great.

21. That, and since Quicktime/iTunes/ect. was written for macs
Edited on Tue Mar-11-08 03:17 PM by DarkTirade
they tend to screw up a lot less ON a mac than on a foreign OS they've been ported to.

I.E., Windows.
