My goddam ear is all plugged up again...
:grr:
I've tried guaifenesin (Mucinex), sudafed (the real stuff), and steam, but it won't budge! It makes me terribly grouchy. :(
:grr:

3. google Toynbee manuever and Valsalva maneuver
Edited on Tue Mar-11-08 03:43 PM by Connonym
follow the very easy instructions for doing each of these and try it a few times to see if it clears things up. It's not quackery (like ear candling) and there are no negative side effects.

6. Is it the outer canal or the eustacian tube
My eustacian tube was horrible clogged after flying in Feb. It took a good 3 weeks before it finally cleared out. Doc gave me Afrin. I didnt' use it much but you could give it a try.

If it's Wax, try Debrox.

15. I think it's the Eustacian tube
When I yawn I hear all kinds of clicking; but it doesn't fully open. :(

21. Also try sucking on extra strength Hall Mentholyptus - and also
Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 07:23 AM by soleft
I've heard popping like that can also be a sympton of TMJ - so if it continues, see your - I think your Dentist is supposed to deal with TMJ as opposed to a doctor. But either one.

11. That's exactly what the Valsalva maneuver is
and it's a thing the ENT docs I worked for used to advise patients to try to do regularly when flying or diving or even just if your ear feels plugged. Best thing about it, it's free and you don't have to put any chemicals in your body.

16. Tried that...
Didn't work. I feel like something needs to be pulled inward rather than pushed outward...

19. I have what is called reverse flux in my left ear.
Fluid builds up in my Eustacian tube and creates reverse pressure on my eardrum pulling it inward. Blowing through my nose helps sometimes when it is bad.
