Well, I finally got dragged into Second Life

A couple of my friends have been trying to peer pressure me into joining Second Life. Now, I'd originally created an account there over a year ago, but I never really got into it. Having dug up my old password and hung out with my friends for a while, I'm glad I gave it a second try. Apparently, virtual reality is a lot like the real world... more fun with friends :D

And I just didn't understand at all. I really didn't. It seemed you HAD to use real money to have any fun in the game. And I wasn't willing to start. That and the fact I STILL to this day don't understand. WHY?

Do you absolutely have to spend money to play, or is there some freebie demo?

or very cheaply. There are also ways to get free money in limited quantities

I know people MAKE real money off it sometimes.

I gave it a try, but quickly realized that you had to have real money to do ANYTHING in that game.

And you couldn't just say, "Okay, I wanna put 5 dollars in." You had to pay the monthly fee.
