9. In high school I switched for a year from tenor sax to bass sax
And the band director loaned me his custom jazz mouthpiece. Jebus, that thing was hot! Every note had oomph! I loved it. I also played tuba, and there is actually some good tuba/euphonium jazz out there.

16. I love them too
I put a bunch of Lionel Hampton on my iTunes. I like the smooooooth stuff.

Vibes make me think I'm living in a b&w movie about some debauched woman... hey, sort of like my life, w/o the vibes or the b&w!

18. bass
I learned how to play when I was 13, played in bar bands off and on for over 20 years. Have 2 good (electric) basses right now, and play a bit to keep my fingers moving. My hands are too used up and old to play upright bass, though.
Also guitar, but I don't know a lot of the jazz chords.

19. I've been in jazz bands
I played bass. If I were to get back into jazz, I'd probably play ukulele though. I've mostly played uke for the last few years, but didn't know how back when I was playing jazz.

Probably guitar or bass. There aren't many openings for a violinist in a jazz band. :)

23. drums!
that's my little fantasy to be a jazz drummer - I'm already a drummer, but jazz drums would be really cool. (probably unlikely I will be able to develop the needed skills anytime soon without excessive practive, but it would be really cool!)

Were I a real jazzer, however, and not a lame student, I would be a pianist, because they're the most bad-ass of all. ;)

piano. I love the pianist best anyway.

33. Probably piano
I've got two trombone players, a bass player and a trumpet player at home who are already involved with three different jazz bands. I'd be extraneous.
