23. I'm jealous
Edited on Mon Jun-16-08 08:28 PM by davidpdx
that's one of the places that's high up on my list (though I didn't put them in the correct order of priority) along with Rome and Athens. I've seen pictures of the old buildings in Prague and they are beautiful. One of my favorite movies, Bad Company, was filmed there.

6. Vancouver is on the top of my list as well
I'm hoping to get some work in Seattle soon, and drag the S.O. out there (to visit DU's own JulieRB) and then head up north. In the US, I've been to most of the major cities, but there are a few smaller ones I've missed: Portland, ME, Taos, NM, and San Antonia, TX.

I haven't been anywhere in Europe except Venice, so I want to see Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Dublin, London, Paris, Rome, Seville, Vienna and Moscow.

On the Pacific Rim, Syndey, Melborne, and Tokyo (although I'm afraid of feeling like a total freak there as a 6' woman - it was bad enough being referred to as "Gringa Gran" in Nogales).

4. No place possible.
I'd like to have seen Beirut since that's where my maternal great-grandfather emigrated from, but for the entirety of my lifetime it's been a violent guerrilla war-zone. I've heard it used to be beautiful...one of the gems of the world and the only city in the middle east to historically rival Baghdad in splendor. Baghdad is another one that I'll never see in wonder.

I'm starting to wonder if there is an ongoing conspiracy to destroy the history and culture of all my ancestors. Lebanon is a pawn in a global game where everybody is willing to sacrifice it for their own agenda, Native American culture has been decimated, Poland's was more-or-less subverted away or literally torn-down, bombed or burnt...first by the Nazis and later by the Soviets, and Edinburgh's being eaten-away by decades of poverty, rampant social alcoholism, neglect and other social ills. That's my culture going back as far as my grandparents...gone or going away.

I'm pissed.

16. I forgot St. Petersburg
And I presume you mean the one in Russia, of course!

I have to admit that it's kind of funny to see Little Rock mentioned in the same list as Monaco, Seoul, and Amsterdam!

20. Strangely, Detroit is one place I haven't visited
I don't count changing planes at DTW a few times.

I've been to Chicago, Columbus, St. Louis, Kansas City, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Des Moines, and the Quad Cities, but for whatever reason I've never had occasion to go to Michigan.

14. My top three are probably Florence, Amsterdam and Prague
I've been to some of the major European cities (London, Paris, Rome, etc.), as well as smaller destinations like Nice and Venice and Lucerne, but there is soooo much to see.

I'd also love to get to Istanbul, Sydney, Buenos Aires, etc. etc. etc.

17. Istanbul is a good choice
I'd also throw in Angkor Wat, Cambodia. Not a city, exactly, but it looks like a mesmerizing place.

and numerous areas in the countryside around these areas

I've lived in the DC area all my life. I've been to New York, Baltimore, Richmond, Hampton Roads, Norfolk, Montreal, Toronto, Naples, FL and driven around Charlotte and Ashville. Got off the ship at Nassau and spent an afternoon there.
