Was I the only DU'er that went to the USO Street Fair in Manhattan?
on 6th ave (Ave of Americas) between 42nd and 56th?

I need to KNOW what the name of that corn stuffed cheese thingy (fried) is called - it's Mexican and it's DELICIOUS!

1. Aren't those great??
Two sweet corn cakes, grilled with a slice of cheese between...man, I could eat those all day. :9 I see them at all the street fairs in NYC, and always get at least one.

Don't know what their "proper" name is though.

2. I go nuts for these.
I spent $7 for two of those in different fares..

Worth it every time. They make it quite good.

I mentioned here that I left roasted corn on the cob for a more exotic street fair food. Grilled corn cakes with mozzarella cheese. Well ok I didn't completely leave corn. I had no idea what I was eating at the time but I knew it was good. So gooood. The sweet corn cakes that housed melted cheese in the middle. It is the best grilled cheese sandwich I EVER had. Now I know they are called Arepas. They are usually eaten plain. You can add things to it, like the cheese one I ate. I found out the proper name from my It's All American Food. cook book. Arepas are popular in Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil. I'm not sure where else they are popular. Ok my belly, but I already said that. I have to add it to my list of delicious foods made from corn. Anyway if you are ever at a street fair and see an Arepa try it. You won't regret it.

And MUCH more here:

:hi: and thanks for reminding me of these...I'll be on the lookout!
