I actually really like her stuff. It's whimsical.

4. From what I know of it...
..it's kind of wimpy.

But if YOU like it, that's all that matters.

3. No argument here
Lots of Enya at our wedding--I walked down the aisle to "On Your Shore". I think her music MADE LA Story too. However, "Sail Away" annoys the shite out of me, but I have issues with repetitive music. :hi:

That and the scene when they walk down the street at night.

Damn, now I have to go watch the movie again. It'll be for, like, the 10,000th time! :hi:

29. It's in my top 10
Maybe my top 5. I saw it when it came out, by myself (one of the first movies I saw by myself), in Southern California, so all the skewering of L.A. was extra potent, and I laughed my ass off (till I cried, of course). I had never thought much of Steve Martin before I saw L.A. Story, but after that I thought he was brilliant and started watching all of his movies.

If you really want poignant, watch Shopgirl--it's a melancholy bookend/companion piece to L.A. Story, at least I think so. It's not goofy in the least, and makes me think that the novella and the movie give an insight into a "older, sadder, wiser" Steve Martin.

25. Me too!
I walked down the aisle to Carribean Blue. We got married on a big boat in Marina Del Rey. It seemed appropriate for that.I think it's beautiful wedding music. I didn't want the traditional "here comes the bride". I like her a lot, but also hate Sail Away.

26. Water for us too, but pure coincidence
We got married on the deck of our house, which was on a small lake. Did it just to save money, and because we don't "do" church. It was quite beautiful!

12. She gets crap because she comes from a region (and family) with a rich musical tradition
But I like her music. It's well-made, and very, very relaxing. She never signed up to explore the depths of the Celtic tradition, and I have no problem with that.

Plus, she's gorgeous. I'd sail away with her, anyday. She makes me twitterpated.

Her music is very evocative of the dreamy kind of romaticism I like, and of course, she's smokin' hot! B-)

27. I have 13 Enya songs :p
My Mom has awful Muzak taste, and somehow Enya's one of the only people we agree on. I'm not sure what that means, it's just the way it is.
Her songs are used for some cool remixes too :headbang:

28. As stated many times on other posts, the arraignment and
engineering of her songs are first rate, especially the multi-layered
"Aaahhhhs" in excellent harmony.
I especially like the little touches she does like the abbreviated "aaahhhh" on
the last upbeat of the intro to "Caribbean Blue."

I still love the Mummer's Dance, despite it's having been overplayed.

I think there was only one song on that CD I liked.

The earlier ones were very creative in a subdued kind of way. :)
