My new computer is (mostly) here! Woo!
It was shipped as two separate packages, one of them arrived today. I'm guessing the other will show up tomorrow. The nerd levels emanating from my neighbourhood just tripled.

I also am getting new glasses on Friday for added nerdiness, haha.

assuming you bought a new case, but I think I remember you saying you'd found an old one.

still, I know the excitement, the worst part is "Out for delivery" :D

4. Nope, I'm buying the case locally.
Though the case I currently have will suffice until then.

5. You know you're not going to want to take it apart once it's built, right?
I wouldn't. Even in an old cruddy case.

I've got an Antec Sonata case right now, it's not that old and is pretty nice, but I'm gonna go to the Sonata III because it has a better PSU, plus it doesn't have the annoying blue LEDs on the front.

7. The Antec Sonata cases are really nice!
I'm a Mac person (currently using a PowerMac G5, dual-core 2.3Ghz machine, but will be moving to a Mac Pro, 8-core beast later this year), but my brother built a new machine a few months ago using the 1st Antec Sonata case (he bought it for $50 a year before he actually used it) and it's really nice. I know the new Sonatas are even nicer.

11. The best thing is that it will last me a good long time.
My current PowerMac is nearing three years old now, and it honestly does have a few years left on it for everything but video For video encoding, at least at the consumer/prosumer level, nothing beats a multi-core intel chip these days. Hell, even an iMac would beat my PowerPC based machine for getting video done.
