I have just one word to describe The Dark Knight...
Phenomenal.

Outstanding.

Brilliant.

Twisted.

Tortured. Beautiful. Excellent.

That's seven words, and even those don't do the film enough justice. This was probably the best comic book movie that has ever been made, and it's easily the best sequel I've ever seen. I cannot possibly say enough good things about this movie.

As for all the hype surrounding Heath Ledger's performance? Yeah, that doesn't even do it justice. He was brilliant, inspired, terrifying. His Joker was perfect, more perfect than any other villain I have ever seen portrayed. If his performance isn't Oscar-worthy, then I don't know what is.

This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. Five stars out of four. Three thumbs up. On a scale of 1 to 10, it was a 72.

4. Yeah, the theatre we were in was packed as well...

...which I was a little surprised by, because that theatre isn't the popular one, and it only had three midnight showings, and it looked like every single one of them was packed to the brim. I went to a midnight screening of the new Indiana Jones movie at this same theatre and the audience was big, but the screening for The Dark Knight was completely packed.

I haven't seen it yet, but that's what I've heard.

9. Yes. Yes it is.
It's even better than Batman Begins, and that movie was outstanding as well, but this latest film... Wow. It's in a whole other class.

10. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't shaken during parts of that movie.
I got chills down my spine on a number of occasions, so effective was Ledger's portrayal of the Joker. He wasn't just good, he was phenomenal. There have been very few movie villains who have truly chilled me to the bone with their performances. As I said before, if his performance isn't Oscar-worthy, then I just don't know what IS these days.

11. Heath was more thsn perfect
I really hope they do not have the Joker in the next movie because no one else can do the character justice.

12. Agreed. My friends and I were talking about that after the movie.
If Christopher Nolan knows what's good for the franchise (and I suspect he does) then the Joker will not appear in the next installment of his Batman series. Nobody could ever come close to portraying him as well as Ledger did. It would not be the same performance and, thus, not the same character. They HAVE to leave the Joker out of the next movie because Heath Ledger was more than perfect - and nobody can ever top his performance.
