But I am now.
I've been stuck at work for 14 hours. I probably have ten to go, and then I'll have to attend a meeting.
See, it started two months ago when they fired a guy that worked in the office next to mine. Usually, when I imagine someone getting fired, I envision a slack ass piece of shit sitting around wasting time, space, and money. That would not be the case with this man. He was handed a metric shit ton of work to do, with no resources, and pulled ten different way by people 'in charge' (think of Office Space). His downfall? He told them they were doing him wrong... And they were. So even though he had seniority on me, when they needed to 'cut back on expenses' he was the lamb led to the slaughter. And for that, I'm thankful.
When said firing occured, the guy who pays us (not necessarily he who is 'in charge', mind you) gave him a month to continue working and find a new line of business in that time. Those in charge did not seize this opportunity to insure that the his remaining load, which of course must be accomplished, is properly turned over to the surviving Officians (my name for those of us who work in black holes and no windows to the outside world, sans an internet connection). Naturally, he stopped giving a shit - wouldn't you? No one seemed to notice. Then, with two weeks left on the clock, he decided to stop showing up.
And now I have to catch up his work. Which is behind schedule. And I have no resources. While I'm being pulled ten different ways. And I want to tell someone, but what's the point? I've already seen what happens to the squeaky wheel... It get's oiled right out to the unemployment office.
Oh, and the man who signs my checks hasn't paid me for my mid month invoice I submitted on the 16th.
Fuck this noise.
