i need to get a new pair, but our local place takes a long time before you get your glasses. there's a lenscrafters about an hour from here that i'm considering going to. anyone have any experience with them? how long does it usually take before they get your glasses in?

2. If they have your lenses...
which is common only if you have a common script and want only the generic lens...it takes about an hour but if they have to order lenses, it takes about a week to get your glasses. (It can vary, most stores get one shipment a week. If you get lucky, it can be next day.)

5. They cut pre-made round lenses to fit frames in-house. There is no "get them in" at Lenscrafters.
They gauge your prescription, you pick your frames, then you go have a nice lunch.

You finish lunch, go back, and they hand you your glasses.

It's a pretty brilliant business model, I tellyawhut!

Back in my day, we waited a week or two for our new glasses to arrive...and we LIKED it! :)

7. I got glasses at Lens Crafters twice, the first time
I had a problem with peripheral vision and they said there was nothing wrong with them so I believed them and kept them. Then I got glasses at Walmart and the next time Sears with no problem. So I thought I would try Lens Crafters again and had the same problem. I demanded to see the manager and he tries to tell me there was nothing wrong with them and I demanded my money back. Then he totally changes his tone, he draws me picture of how the lens is made and he showed me there is only a very small area in the middle of the lens that actually affects your vision. He said he could get another lens that has a wider focal area and it would solve the problem and I did. Apparently they use a cheaper lens with a narrower focal area that most people don't notice or they complain about. I will definitely never go there again.

13. If you have a common prescription, no time at all
If not, it'll still take at least a week. I always have to wait for mine, since my prescription is so strong. YMMV.
