Can I just vent about being freaked re: female issues?
Disclaimer: I'm not seeking medical advice; I have already scheduled an appt. with my dr, as that is obviously warranted.

I've had menstrual- like cramps for a few weeks. The last two weeks, one of my breasts has been pretty sore, the other has been a little sore, and when I wake up, my ribs on one side hurt a little bit. I woke up this morning to find that a certain visitor has arrived two weeks earlier than it should have. Based on my horrendously erratic moods of late, my hormones seem to be all over the place. I've never had anything like this happen and the breast/rib soreness is freaking the shit out of me. I don't know what's wrong with me and I'm kind of panicking. I can't get in to see the dr. for about two more weeks, so I expect I'll spend most of that time convincing myself that I'm going to die or something. :eyes:

I need a valium.

1. It sounds like peri-menopausal symptoms.

That sounds awful. I've had two friends who started having peri-menopausal symptoms in their late twenties.

When does that stuff typically start, anyway?

5. I edited my post to add a link to the mayo clinic.
I've had two friends who started perimenopausal symptoms that early. I didn't realize you were so young, but it's possible. I'm sorry you're going through this.

8. Thanks!
I'll check it out, even if it's unlikely. It'll be pertinent information at some point!

21. Do you take an iron supplement? I have been anemic forever it seems, even when i was
90 pounds heavier and eating meat i was anemic so then i lost the weight and i went to see my doctor and after all the blood tests for the usual he told me to start taking an iron supplement. It does help a bit with the fatigue but of course does nothing for cramping. I hope you're feeling better soon and you might try the therma care heat wraps if you aren't using them already, those do help me quite a bit for cramps.

Sometimes it really sucks to be a girl.

23. I used to, when I was severely anemic, but
I started eating better, and it cleared up. I probably should start taking my vitamins again.

You're damn right it does. I'm hating this month, badly. x(

6. back in the olden days when I was in my late teens the doctor prescribed valium for my cramps
I would get debilitating cramps that would cause me to miss school and be totally miserable. Valium worked better than anything but being on the pill. When I got my tubes tied the cramps started up again. I had uterine ablation last month. Too early to tell if it will work but I'm hoping. I sympathize with you.

I don't know how old you are but as I started to get to be around 40 my periods became irregular, just part of perimenopause according to my doctor. So you're not necessarily dying ;-) Hope you feel better soon.

7. I'm only 30.
The cramps aren't all that painful- it just freaks me out that I'm having them when I shouldn't be.
I think I've had so few female issues in my life that it seems really abnormal to me to be having any sort of deviation from what I'm used to.

9. It still could be early pre-menopausal (slim possibility)
Mrs. av8rdave started them in her later 30s.

I doubt it's anything serious, though you're wise to see the Dr.

Hey, look at the bright side: You're not pregnant!

11. Since you can't get in for two weeks, you might want to do a home
pregnancy test. If it comes up positive, get yourself an appointment sooner.

You could have an ectopic pregnancy. You could have a pregnancy that's not proceeding normally,
and you might be miscarrying.

13. I'm not pregnant- that much I'm sure of.
My husband was snipped in '03, and had the requisite post-vasectomy testing done.

14. That was going to be my suggestion. Especially if this particular
period is lighter/spottier than your regular ones....it may not be a period, but implantation bleeding/miscarriage/evidence of EP. Good luck and be well.

12. Are you in a seventh year of your cycle?
Weirdly, every seven years of mine my system would freak out and I'd have an early period. 19, 26, 33, 40, etc. Then everything would right itself and I'd be back on track. I never found any medical logic to explain why but it happened...

Hope it's nothing serious. :hi:

15. Gentle hugs...
Sorry you're feeling poorly... surprised it's taking you two weeks to get in to see your doctor! Badger them more and ask them to call if they get a cancellation.

16. mm, I was going to say perimenopausal stuff, but you are pretty young...
feel better - maybe a call to Blues on Call nurse or whatever your insurance has... they always give pretty good perspectives...

ps Aren't bodies weird? They are always doing something odd, aren't they.

19. It's been my observation that the moon cycle can be a myth -
I think variable cycles are more the norm than a dependable 28 days! We've all been stressing over the election; blame George Bush and the Republicans!

22. It might be an ovarian cyst
Not serious, but painful and scary. And they affect your hormones, IIRC. No chance of your doctor squeezing you in earlier?
