I dislike the Jonas brothers.
I don't understand the popularity of the jonas brothers. I listened to a song and it sucked. The one with the real curly hair is cute but that is all they have going for them.

1. Well, Disney first thought of calling them the Judas brothers, but "Jonas" apparently has
more superficial appeal...

2. I saw them in a commercial.
One of them looks like Joan Jett and the other two look like they've had their milk money beaten out of them a few times. If the five seconds or so that I heard was any indication, their music is actually even worse than their looks.

sadly, i actually know gals my age who love the jonas brothers. my music rack consists of CCR, ac/dc, the beatles, rolling stones, the kinks, the animals etc.. so needless to say, the jonas brothers don't fit in there

16. BabyMidlo is going to see them Tuesday night and couldn't be more excited.
I'm reminded of the time I took TM to see the Hansons. Or when I saw Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy and the Osmonds.

What comes around goes around.

but my tastes ran towards Robin Zander of Cheap Trick, so I suppose I was off the "marketers" radar...

BTW, the Jonas Brothers still suck to me. Too tame. :-)

The new Jonas Brothers CD actually reminds me of them a little in spots. Besides the too-Maroon 5-ish "Burnin' Up" and a couple ballads, I think it's a good CD. :-)

24. Well, I have to say I've not actually
perused their records in any depth, because frankly, it's disturbing.

But I'll take your word for it, and keep listening to WAY old Cheap Trick instead. :hi:

26. There's some music that is too youth-oriented, and..
much that breaks the barrier so all pop fans can listen. But that's my opinion. :hi:

29. I don't disagree at all...
I just find "le Jonas" antiseptic. And therefore, kind of boring.

I have tried; mostly because I have a perfect-age goddaughter who thinks I'm hopelessly stupid. Good enough. :-)

So maybe they really are growing up. I did find them promising before. :hi:

32. OK, OK - I'll keep an ear out.
Maybe someday I'll think them worth it. Stranger things have happened...

But, for the record? In my world, Robin Zander (and folks like him) still rule. I have my benchmark, and I'll likely never give it up.

Thanks for the chat - it was fun. :-)

I guess I might be more of a pop fan in general. We do agree that Cheap Trick still rules in comparison, though.

Have a good night! :hi:

13. Another Disney creation along with Miley Cyrus
But they do have their fans among the tween set and even a few teens. They seem like nice kids, but I doubt they will last once their fans grow up.

18. Their new album actually has some good hooks
A little power-pop like, which I enjoy. They do faster better than slower, but the new CD is a worthwhile buy for all pop fans. I think Miley's CD isn't quite as good, but has a few keepers.

28. Well I'll tell you...
I'm an old blues/rock player, and I took my daughter to see them last summer and you know, they put on a pretty good show. Not my cup of tequila, but their musicianship was tight, and they interacted with the audience very well. We saw them at a county fair, so we were pretty close and I don't think they were lip syncing or playing air guitar. Give 'em a break, kids gotta start somewhere listening to music, and they could do worse than the Jonas Brothers IMHO.

34. Thank you.
I just listened to a few of their tunes on YouTube. Seems like they have some pretty good stuff. I've heard much much worse.

And I appreciate the fact that their lyrics aren't littered with obligatory potty mouth phrases. It's not that I object to profanity; it's just that the words lose their impact due to overuse.

30. Why do you hate America....
Come on, it's pop music for a pop culture whose raison d'être is to inculcate the masses early in order to perpetuate a consumer based economy.
