My children are watching Joe Biden's speech.

I recorded it last night for them; they got up and got ready for school this morning, and are now sitting and watching the speech. I had it recorded from Beau Biden's speech on through Obama's appearance on stage.

They are interested. They are asking questions. And I couldn't be more proud. (The kids are 8 and 6.)

We had to go out in the middle of John Kerry's speech, and my 4 year old was really bummed about it until I told her we could listen to him on NPR in the car. The she was really happy about it.

She was silent on the car ride, until Kerry started talking about Obama's uncle who liberated Buchenwald (how do you explain concentration camps to a 4 year old? I told her he helped a lot of people get out of a jail they didn't belong in). Then she decided she wanted to meet Obama's uncle and tell him thank you for being a brave man and helping people.

I almost had to pull the car over and cry for a bit.
