3 years ago, I joined these guys:
http://www.myspace.com/thehilitesWe were supposed to be the next 'big' thing in Ska world. Which, we kind of were. Had a record deal and the whole banana. But my leadsinger/song writer went batshit crazy so 7 out of 9 of us left just as we were supposed to go on Warped Tour. Interestingly enough, he hates us for leaving but has no problem keeping our songs on his myspace page.
Those of us who left started this band:
http://www.myspace.com/theamalgamated (in retrospect, could I have possibly chosen a harder band name to remember? Eat your heart out, Chumbawumba). The band is still going strong, though I had to bow out in order to make my fortune as an evil defense contractor in Washington DC. I believe the boys just opened for The English Beat and have been getting local air play with the demo they made a few weeks back. I still fly in every now and again and join them on stage. We're set to put out an album sometime in the next year.
And finally, I've always been kind of a revolving player in this band:
http://www.myspace.com/unsteadymusic. John Roy is the guy who runs this project. He's one of the best Sax players in the world. He's typically a studio guy - going on tour with bands who need a Saxophonist on stage (like the Psychedelic Furs) or in the studio. Unsteady is one of those bands I saw when I was a teenager and decided that there was life beyond marching band.
So there you have it.
