For those who have watched the Six Feet Under Series... does it get
better than the pilot? I just rented the first season and didn't really like the pilot. So I'm wondering should I give up now or not. Does it get better?

1. To me it had its moments
but there was a certain sameness about the show from beginning to end. I still enjoyed the show but it wasn't on my top list by any means.

2. Much.
It took a bit to get going well, but seasons 3 onward are darn good.

3. I think the third season was the best
but if the Pilot didn't hook you, then it's probably not for you. Then again, you haven't met Brenda's brother yet, so there's that to look forward to.

It didn't win 3 Goldens, 9 Emmys and a Peabody without reason.

Now if someone tells me that Rachel Griffiths is a freeper nut job, I will probably commit some form of seppuku in ironic 6FU fashion.

4. It depends on what your idea of "better" is.
There are things that annoyed me about the show from start to finish, but I watched every season and enjoyed it. It does change.

5. It's my favorite show ever in television/cable...I loved it from beginning
to end. It's very character driven and the characters are flawed and endearing...just like in real life. I LOVED the very first episode to the very last one. If you aren't that into character depth and appreciate really smart and quirky story lines, you probably won't get it. IMHO if you didn't really like the first episode, there's a chance you won't get into what it's really about.

6. My biggest beef about the show
(which I loved for the most part) is that I never thought the Ruth Fisher character was believable or likable in any season. I didn't think her actions were plausible and she continually annoyed me. It got worse as the series went on. Sometimes I wanted to fast forward through the scenes with her in it.

7. Watched every episode
My wife loved it, and I thought it was OK. The folks dying in different ways every episode can be darkly humorous.

If you didn't really like the pilot, it may not be for you. The characters in that show seem caught up in a series of bad choices. It really jumped the shark for me in the last season.

It did introduce me to the work of that fellow who now plays Dexter on Showtime, which is an awesome series.

8. I don't think it does.
The last season was pretty good, but you've got to slog your way through a lot of drivel to get to it.

If you didn't like the pilot that much, bail now.
