1. A reporter I used to work with
felt one that turned out to be a 2.1 or somethin' like that. She was always goin' "Gaaaah!" when nobody else felt nothin'.

I called her "Seismo-Butt." :D

6. S'pose that's possible
Closest mapped one to you is the Newport-Inglewood-Rose Canyon fault zone, which runs from Long Beach through Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa.

There's a little one, the Quien Sabe, about 2½ miles east of me, but I think it's had one teeny quake since I've lived here.

4. My dear KitchenWitch!
I suppose it's possible...

There are faults that haven't been discovered yet...or named.

Not to worry, sweetie...

You've been in SoCal for what, a year or two, and already you can estimate an intensity to a tenth of a point?!

I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy!

edit: this ex-SF guy is so far out of practice that, when we had an aftershock of the October '06 quake on Thanksgiving -- while Mom was on the phone from NY! -- I told her "Um, I think that might have been another quake, unless a really really big truck just went by or something." :dunce:

10. Back in the day, the unreported quakes originated in remote, SW Nevada
..however, I think we agreed not to do that anymore.
