I need smart people to refute brothers right wing blog
Hi all, I visit DU every day, I usually only have time to read headlines and check out the youtube videos on the front page, but I don't post much. I hope the Lounge is the best place to post this request. I have this far right wing brother who've I've butted heads with for years. He's got this blog where a couple of people who agree with his views enter comments. And he really needs a smackdown from some intelligent progressives. If any of you have time, I'd really appreciate anyone who has a chance to check out his blog and leave some comments on his blog that I hope can knock some sense into him. You'll get a laugh at how he still expresses his fondness for Bush. His blog is at http://nathanstudy.blogspot.com/

Thanks a bunch, Ed

1. I'm not too smart, at least I don't write smart, lol.
Anyway he actually seems somewhat reasonable, if very misguided. Better than the sort of "liberals love terrorists and hate America" sort of stuff I'm used to seeing from wingnuts. Then again I only perused for a few minutes...

2. wow
>>>As the history books will no doubt explain, the financial crisis of 2008 was caused in large part by government's penchant for liberal activism.

This guy sure thinks a lot of himself. He has constructed quite the castle of his own rationalization. I don't think much arguing will do much good here. There is so much half truths (bullshit) that it becomes really hard to actually "win" or change their mind. Arguing with them is like trying to catch smoke - they drift all over the place.

I can see him struggling with some of his demons. I would bet he has quite the opinion of himself, is controlling, but thinks of himself as "open minded".

3. Is said brother a Mormon?
I speak as a member of the faith, and if so I may have some suggestions, but I offer you little hope, so many of my fellows have drunk so deeply from the kool-aid that there is little that can be done to convince them of anything.

4. Geez, he doesn't just use rose-colored glasses...
...he's moved in to the rose-colored glass house. :puke:

I'll have to go back there, if I can stand it, with some material from the news today. The August 28th posting about the economy is especially foolish in light of all that's gone down since then...
