6. Bet you think I don't know who that is, do you?
I lived in Illinois for a while, and worked for a public entity, so we got Pulaski Day off. I was like, "What is this weird-assed holiday on the calendar that nobody else in the country gets?"

14. No love for Tadeusz Kosciuscko?
Fought alongside George Washington for American independence. Went back to his native Poland in order to free them from Russian rule. Raised an army of peasants who raised hell with the Russian troops until Catherine the Great deployed General Suvorov to break the rebellion once and for all.

Yeah, Kosciuscko was a great Pole - and a great human being. IIRC, he was awarded a small plantation in America complete with slaves, and he wound up freeing all the slaves.

28. I voted for Totem Pole,
because I like them and it looked sad without any votes. Plus I'm married to a Native American.

My favorite Pole though was my step grandfather. He taught me to fish and camp. He was also a tool and die maker, and I got my love for tinkering watching him work. Great guy, I miss him.
