It's holiday time in America! Yay Christmas! (??)

Today the local "oldies" station was pimping its rotation of Christmas songs that will be coming up 24/7 beginning at about Thanksgiving. One of the snippets of song played to promote was, of course, Paul McCartney's infamous "Wonderful Christmastime," which I now have on repeat from YouTube because it is the most addictively annoying and obnoxious song. I loathe it and yet I can't stop listening to it.

This, folks, is the real meaning of Christmas: getting tinny and overplayed songs stuck in your head for almost three months of the year.

Not just Christmas that comes early. I think it's best if the Christmas carols start the weekend before Thanksgiving. Any earlier kind of cheapens a holiday I love.
