6. Onions sauteed in butter, then smothered in sour cream
and parmesan cheese. It looked interesting and I had the ingredients so I fucked, hey why not? I hope they like it.

If it's a hit, I'll send you the recipe.

Happy Thanksgiving to you guys.

4. we had corn pudding at a recent feast at my son's school - it was great!

We are having turducken at my bro's house, with Greek salad from my husband, and pumpkin cheesecake pie from me. I assume there will be more pie, rolls, veggies, etc.

He didn't clear his menu with me first ....

I'm just glad I'm not doing a cooking marathon this year, otherwise I wouldn't be farting around here on DU.

An order of fried dumplings and a plate of cashew chicken with diet Pepsi.

But don't feel sorry for me. I had a huge meal with friends last night, and I'm going to another gathering this evening.

And my relatives are 3,000 miles away, for which I am truly thankful! :woohoo:

15. It's just me and LooseWilly.
I'm cooking a Persian beef and celery stew, some saffron rice with a sliced potato crust and my first ever pumpkin pie. I forgot to buy cream for it and am substituting milk and butter. Cross your fingers. Fortunately I didn't forget sugar in it like a friend of ours did, so there's that at least!

16. microwaved Thai noodle bowl
Edited on Thu Nov-27-08 06:04 PM by stuntcat
I'm not going to the Thanksgiving pig-out baby-worship because a friend of my in-laws who started a fight with me last week will be there. He attacked me in public for almost an hour because the mass-extinction concerns me, and the dying parts of the sea, and the fact that any child of mine would realize, as do I, that their being here is part of the death of the natural world.
Nope, I'm spending Thanksgiving by myself.. guess I'm not so important a part of the family as that asshole.

I've had almost four beers, and the instant noodles. They can consume their ill-gotten turkey and talk about how fantastic it feels to rape the environment. I'm happy to finally have an excuse to skip it.

Bon appetit, indeed! The cats are about to have their Thanksgiving dinner :-)

17. it was just me
Meatballs, vegetables, mashed potatoes, and gravy, all together in a bowl.

It was pretty good, and even though one reason I made this was that it was just for me, there was still too much.

I wanted to make stuffing, but there would have been way too much. I tried to get people to come over for stuffing, but people were very busy.

20. Salmon, sweet potato fries and Oreo cheesecake
I despise "traditional" Thanksgiving food, which is mostly bland, tasteless lumps of shit.

21. Well, it's all gone now
Down the gullet or in the fridge. But we HAD...

Turkey
Mashed ptoatoes
Stuffing
Squash
Candied yams
French bread
Stuffed artichokes
Corn
Salad
Asparagus
Cranberries
Roasted chestnuts
Fruit
Homemade apple pie
Homemade pumpkin pie
Wine (red and white--who cares about going with the food)

And pasta with butter, cucumbers, and cheese stick for the wee one who turns his nose up at turkey. My aunt (the hostess) tried to bribe him to eat a bite of turkey, so I had to step in and tell her to lay off.

A slice of one of the pies, lemon meringue, sounds good right now. :-)
