Any "American Gothic" fans out there?
We're just re-watching the series from the beginning on DVD.

Lucas Buck ("That's Buck with a B") one of the best TV characters evah!

3. Dang...
I thought I was the only person in the free world who watched that show while it aired! No one among my circle had even heard of it, much less seen it.
So the series is out on DVD - I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the tip! :toast:

7. We were feeling the same way ...
Edited on Thu Dec-11-08 12:19 AM by NanceGreggs
... about being the only people on the planet who ever saw it!

I looked for a DVD for years without luck - then found it a year ago, by sheer serendipity while looking for something else. It was an enormous video outlet store - and yet the copy I found was the only one in the store.

If you can't find a copy locally, Google "American Gothic" - there are websites devoted to the series, and they'll give the info on how to order it on-line.

Edited to add: The DVD includes four episodes that were never aired, as the show was canceled before being concluded.

4. i have been meaning to watch it. I know it only lasted one season
and the ex teen idol shaun cassidy (younger brother of teen idol David Cassidy) wrote it. All episodes can be viewed on hulu.com. I think when i get a chance I will watch it soon. I heard it was good.

5. "Someone's at the door."
Couldn't even begin to figure out how to spell "Door" phonetically the way it was pronounced...

I remember the series and I remember being pissed when it got canceled. I have to admit, it kinda freaked me out to see Lucas Buck as the boss in Office Space. His character as the sheriff just creeped me out too bad to ever feel comfortable with him playing somebody else.

9. Same here.
Writing for the character of Lucas Buck must have been a screenwriter's dream!

Normally you'd be told something was "too over the top" - but with this character, nothing was mean enough, sarcastic enough, evil enough to be discounted as being "over the top".

13. They let the writing fall to crap
after the ratings failed to improve, which virtually guaranteed the show's cancellation. Pity, as the story was so compelling and had such great potential for future plotlines.

14. I loved that show! Question for you...

I think I missed the last few episodes. Did they manage to tie up the series at the end, or was it an unresolved cliff-hanger at the end of the season?

15. The DVD set includes four episodes ...
... that were never aired, because the show was canceled before the first season had concluded.

We haven't watched those episodes yet, as we've started from the beginning.

However, I do know that the last two episodes that aired were out-of-sequence - programming glitch at the network.
