We have reached the "Thow it in a box and tape it down" segment of packing.
We are done with "Let's be organized" and into full on "OMG WTF!!" panic mode. Mover comes in 23 (who's counting) hours and I've got a half a house just sitting here. The kitties need to be real careful where they sit down today. ARRRGGGGHHHH!

3. I have been working on getting Merlin to "enjoy" his new cat carrier
as a snoozing place all week, and it finally worked yesterday (with 3 catnip mousies and a megaton of treats). He's never been "carried" before but hates car rides. I think I might run a video camera because 2 cats and 1 dog in a car for 21 hours is bound to be a blast, right? Right?

5. *LOL*
I can think of no more fun way to spend 21 hours, - unless one (and then all) of your fuzzy buddies gets car sick.

14. You may want to run by your vet and pick up some drugs or feliway...
if you haven't already done so. Might save your sanity!

16. I kept waiting for the packing elves...and they never showed up.
It's just me, the RA and a buttload of craptastic stuff to get done, but I'm happy. It's worth it. :)

6. LOL!! I remember when I moved from Tennessee to
California...

I absolutely remember the OMG WTF panic mode because I had to get on the road.

The moving company had already taken my stuff, and I was just going to throw some of the drawer junk in a box and take it with me in the car with some of my clothing.

Jesus Christ. I couldn't believe how much shit I had, and it was TAKING FOREVER to go through this drawer and that drawer.

It got to the point were I just starting throwing stuff in the garbage.

Those drawers will get you when you move!

HA ;)

8. Wrap up your dirty dishes with your dirty clothes and
toss them in the boxes...make sure you wrap them securely with plenty of plastic wrap and duct tape! (prevents noxious gas leakage I learned this from the Department of Homeland Security - and people said they were good for nothing!) Then, when you're done, everything will smell like roses! Really!

9. Hee!
Reminds me of a scene in Betty MacDonald's Onions in the Stew; she began packing for their move carefully sorting and organizing and writing on boxes but by the end was rolling up the heel of salami and a jar of mustard in her tweed skirt and not even marking the box 'perishable.'

Just wait until you start UNpacking -- opening boxes and saying "what is this and why did I feel it necessary to move it across the country?"

I used to be organized about it. When I was childless and didn't have much stuff. Now? Forget it. 'Throw it in a box and tape it up' is just standard procedure. :)

get some kitty tranquillizers. I don't think I could handle mine in a car for that many hours- meowing at the top of their lungs! lol

25. I picked up some feliway and a "Comfy pad" for Merlin...
and then I stuck a butt load of his treats and a few catnip mousies in the carrier, which I set up next to his favorite spot (the heat vent) and he's been sleeping there so I hope he does okay. Jessie gets car sick so that will be fun. :)

Texas, LA and MS have been experiencing a winter storm with rain/sleet/ice - and even snow!

I know you know how to drive in the mess, you aren't the one to be concerned about - WE don't know how to drive in the mess. Plenty of accidents already.

Please check DOT sites in all the states you will travel through for any storm warnings, driving conditions, closed roads.

I'm so excited for you - enough on your plate to not need to deal with the weather (and those of us who can't drive in icy times).

36. Sunday. And, because I'm a freak, I've been checking the weather
each morning. It should be high 60's, low 70's by the time I get there Monday. My cousin sent pictures of the snowballs they made last night and their palm with snow coated leaves.

39. Whew, Sunday will be much better driving
Like I said, it's not your driving that I worry about for you - it's those of us in the south who haven't a clue how to handle our cars in icy conditions.

We are like kids with snow it is so rare (none here and I am pouting like you wouldn't believe).

I won't get on the road, I'm eating a cinnamon roll and driving hot coffee as I sit in my sweats playing on my puter while I ignore my work.

Much luck on the packing.

as always, you and yours are in my prayers
