Is it possible for a 24-year-old female kitty to be the alpha to the boy kitties
Edited on Tue Dec-16-08 11:42 PM by Roon
When I put food down the boys wait until she is done before the move in for thier share. Never seen anything like it before. She will hiss and swat if one of the boys try to eat with her!!!

THE GIRL!!

THE BOYS!

4. Thank you
My ex lover has had here since he was 15-years-old. Got her as a kitten. She has lived in many different places and she remembers everyone who cared for her. When I broke up with my ex I begged him to let me keep her so she wouldn't have to move again. So he gave her to me. :-)

5. The world's oldest cat is much older than that
Calicos are known for their long life spans.

I've never known of a cat older than 19. Very cool.

3. In my experience, yes.
I fostered a thirteen-year-old female cat, who, we were told, was "good with other cats." Well, the first time we introduced her to one of our two males, she leapt off the bed and chased him out of the room. She's a BIG CAT, at least eighteen pounds. Maybe she scared the heck out of them, but neither BenBen nor Maximouse ever messed with Brenda. She's now been adopted by a family with no other cats, and it works better for her (and for my boys!) Man, that girl looks MEAN!

Beautiful cats, all. Enjoy!

9. Yes
In cat hierarchy, spayed females are at the top, followed by non-neutered males, then non-spayed females, and then at the bottom, neutered males.

11. my 17 year old toothless, clawless, very small old lady ruled the house through a succession
of other kitties. My Siamese mix could have had her for breakfast but he very much respected her space. He kept our house and yard free of Invader Kitties but he never messed with The Scamp

My sister's old cat (who died two years ago at 16+), was a dainty little thing who ruled the roost: two other cats and two dogs. SHE was the Queen.

And now, when she wants to, our kitty can scare the hell out of two Border Collies with just a laser-beam LOOK.

14. Whichever cat eats first is the boss.
My two male cats sometimes fight a little to figure out who is the boss, but they eat together so I can't figure out which one is supposed to be alpha.
I guess they can't decide it either.

17. Our female cats don't buy that "alpha male" crap.
Our two big, tough, tom cats have spent their entire lives inside. The girls each spent time outdoors and one survived as a de-clawed stray so they know how to intimidate the boys into submission.

18. They boys just don't want to deal with aggression? I have a kitten like that.
Sure she'll hiss and spit at cats outside but she'll do whatever my male cat wants. She never puts up a fight.

21. Oh, yes.
This is Pixie.

She is 18 months old and weights about 7-1/2 lbs. She routinely chases, terrorizes and generally beats the snot out of her two big boy roommates, Jeoffry (14 lbs.) and Milo (15 lbs.). She runs the place.

34. A little Siamese, a little smoke Persian (allegedly) and a whole lot of Nebraska farm cat.
She's a beauty, though. Her blue eyes are very slightly crossed, which comes from the Siamese, and she's fluffy from the Persian. And she has odd stripes here and there from whatever else she is.

I think what might look as an orange stripe is actually a shadow.

35. The apparent orange behind his ear may be his buddy slopping over
:-)

and the color on the front paws may be that of the couch.

That would leave the stripe back by the tail. Shadow -- or kitty drag?
