we had that a few weeks ago and, as the first snow of the season, it was a bit of a shock

3. This was a bit of a shock because our previous record of snow in 24 hours was 12.5 inches.
And when I made an attempt (which failed) to go to work this morning, we were at 20 inches and it's still snowing!

every few years we'll get a dump of 24-30 inches in the same amount of time.

4. I'm in Spokane, Washington.
We usually get our snow spread out over 3 months. This is like half a season of snow in one night.
