Marge Schott Dies At 75
http://www.wcpo.com/news/2004/local/03/02/schott.html

Former Reds owner Marge Schott died Tuesday afternoon at Christ Hospital in Mt. Auburn.

Schott took a turn for the worse in the past 24 hours and was taken off life support around 1 p.m.

She had suffered from breathing problems in the past after being a long-time smoker. Family members gathered at the hospital to be with her Tuesday.

2. I wonder who'll take care of her St. Bernards
Didn't she used to let her huge St. Bernards crap in the locker room at Reds games?

5. On the field, that I know of
Some years, it probably seemed like Marge took a dump in the locker room, if you get my meaning.

7. I don't know about the locker room, but I personally saw
"Schatzie" take a huge dump on the infield carpet at Riverfront Stadium.

3. She was a wingnut and something of a bigot, but ..
she was also one tough old dame who took on the big boys on their own turf, and gave as good as she got. I have got to respect that aspect of her character.

8. As a lifetime Cincinnati Reds fan, this does make me sad
Marge was a lunatic and a Bush supporter, but she did bring us a World Series in 1990. Personally, I think she might have been in the early stages of ALZ towards the end of her reign as majority owner. She was pretty normal for awhile, but after they won the world series she got nuttier by the year.

God Bless and God Speed Marge and thanks again for the World Series - we were mighty pleased with it!!

10. Well she may have been crazy
but she was an "institution" in Cincinnati. In other words, WE could pick on her, but nobody else could!

RIP, Marge.

11. I once sat near her

at a Cracker Barrell restaurant outside of Cinti...(maybe Erlanger? anyway...) She was EXACTLY as you might imagine her to be: LOUD, chain-smoking, swearing...it was a scream! All these families there, with their kids and all...they were so torn over gawking at the local *celebrity* and trying to keep their kids from overhearing her.

Yeah, she was an original. :D

RIP Marge. :)

12. Good-bye to a true original...
Yes, Marge was a foul-mouthed bigot. Even so, she was a true original.

Like her, hate her, or loathe her, she was one tough old dame. Gotta give her credit for holding her own in the "Boys Club" of pro sports owners.

One less bu$h vote maybe but in a county that never met a Republican it didn't like she was just a face in a crowd politically.

Marge kept the Reds in Cincinnati and for that I will be always be grateful. She had money and married money but just as she did with the baseball owners she must have made the Cincinnatis financially affluent a little nervous at times which I thought was funny. For that I was able to tolerate the acute foot-in-mouth disease she had.

Baseball Owners:

Marge Schott: World Championships = 1
George W. Bu$h: World Championships = zero

Whistleass, you got beat by a girl. :bounce:
