Need Firefox help. I think.

I have a Windows XP, I'm using Firefox and trying unsuccessfully to int stall Adobe Flash.

Bastard computer keeps telling me I need to log in as a "system administrator" to install this. Um, this is my personal computer, aren't I the system administrator by freaking default? I don't have a stray system administrator hanging out in the closet, thanks.

Help please, because I want to kill.

First, find the user you are logged in as. Easiest way is Control+Alt+Delete to bring up the task manager. Click the "Users" tab. What user is listed below? That user is you!

Now...

Open your start menu. Find 'My computer' and right click it. Choose 'Manage' from the menu.

In the computer management window in the left hand pane expand System tools, then under that expand Local Users and Group then click the users folder. In the right hand pane there are a bunch of users. Find the user you were logged in as and right click it. Choose properties from the pop-up window. In the newly opened properties window choose the "Member of" tab. Look at the groups listed below. If 'Administrators' is not one of them, click the 'Add' button. In the new window type "Administrators" in the text area, and click 'Check names'. The group should now look like computername\Administrators where computername is the name of your computer. Click Ok. The window closes. Now click 'Apply' and then 'Ok' on the user window. You may need to reboot at this point, but I doubt it. You are now an administrator.

This is why computers suck ass and are not in any way user-friendly. This kind of info should be sitting on my desktop and labeled appropriately, namely: "Change Administrator". But no, as usual it has to be a fucking hour-long treasure hunt with no map. :banghead:
