Holy shit. My cousin committed suicide early this morning.

My sister just called--the only details we know so far are that he was pulled over by a state trooper in the wee hours of the morning (he lives in Indiana), and before the officer had even walked up to the car, my cousin shot himself in the head.

No depression that anyone knows of. No drug abuse (that we know of) or financial problems of any kind.

We're all stunned right now. No answers.

My brother committed suicide in July 2001 and we still don't know "why." He had intense self loathing and never accepted being gay. Even though people told him they loved him as he was and that it didn't matter that he was gay, HE could not accept that people loved him.

Depression is a disease. Untreated it kills just as any other disease.

45. Update: They think he was despondent over losing his job.

My uncle told my dad that my cousin lost his job about a month ago, and had been upset about it.

The cops tried to pull him over three times (we're still not sure why, whether it was suspicion of DUI, etc.)--he stopped twice, and then took off again before the cop could walk up to the car. The third time, he used a shotgun he had in the front seat to kill himself before the cop reached the car.

Police report suicide during traffic stop

The Kentucky State Police is investigating the death of an Evansville man who they say shot himself during a traffic stop.

According to a state police report, a trooper pulled over a vehicle shortly after 4:30 a.m. today on the Pennyrile Parkway for suspicion of driving under the influence.

As the trooper called out to the driver — later identified as Michael D. Black, 28, of Evansville — over his P.A. system, he heard what he believed to be a gunshot from the vehicle.

When the trooper and additional officers approached the car, they found Black in the driver's seat.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hopkins County coroner. An autopsy has been scheduled for a later date.

suicide is such a tragedy . My brother in law comitted suicide several years ago and I do not think his family will ever recover fully from the tragedy of it. It is a truly horrible thing . I made a vow at that time to never depart with a loved one with out saying "I love you", and every phone conversation ends with "I love you" .

Many times I wish I had said "Mike you are such a good person and I love you for loving my sister" but it is way to late now
